The one surviving copy was placed by Hannah Fryshdorf in the archives of the in New York.
This surviving manuscript is a copy of the original memoir and was hand-written in the Wyszkow woods in Poland in 1944. The original was lost. The first few pages of the memoir were transcribed by the author, Oskar Strawczynski. The bulk of the manuscript was prepared by Hannah Frysdorf and deposited by Hannah in the archives of the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in 1949. Oskar’s memoir was translated from Yiddish to English by his sister, Natalie (Nadia) Strawczynski Rotter, with the assistance of her daughter Frederika in 1981. It first appeared in Dr. David Rome’s work Clouds in the Thirties: On Anti-Semitism in Canada 1929 – 1939, published by the Canadian Jewish Congress, Montreal.
The English translation of Oskar’s memoir may also be found in the volume Escaping Hell in Treblinka published by Yad Vashmem.
